‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ Guest Stars Who Were Done Dirtiest by the Paddy’s Pub Crew

Though Rickety Cricket, The Waitress and The Lawyer are the most common targets for the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia gang’s horrifying antics, they aren’t afraid to branch out, terrorizing any character — or celebrity guest star — that dares to step foot inside Paddy’s Pub.

On Friday, user takenolsolatunji headed to the show’s subreddit with a question for fans of the long-running series: Which celebrity endured the most bullshit from Dennis, Dee, Charlie, Mac and Frank? 

Despite including a screengrab of White Lotus star Alexandra Daddario during her stint as Ruby Taft, Charlie’s wealthy one-time girlfriend, fans were divided on who actually got it the worst during their time with the gang. 

“Scott Bakula had his career mocked and then didn’t even get to leap,” argued jsilv0, referencing the Quantum Leap actor’s self-deprecating song in the first episode of Season 12. 

To mrsthurminator, however, lamenting about bygone glory days had nothing on what Jason Sudeikis endured during his two-episode run as Peter “Schmitty” Schmidt, the gang’s short-lived sixth member. “They kicked him out of the gang not once but twice!” they wrote, “and both times out of a moving car.”

That said — and Sinbad and Rob Thomas notwithstanding — the consensus seemed to be a celebrity who is far from just a guest. In fact, he’s long transcended guest star: series regular Danny DeVito. 

“They had Danny Devito wriggle around on a dirty floor almost naked covered in transparent goo,” dgoldstein38 observed of Frank Reynolds’ various antics throughout his nearly two-decade run as the show’s resident patriarch. “They also had Danny DeVito sewn into a couch and (he) almost suffocate(d) completely naked. Danny is such a trooper, man.”

It would certainly be hard to be a guest star on the show and argue that anything short of that is beneath you.
