22 Movie Endings That Truly Came Out of Nowhere

‘No Country for Old Men’ was a sudden change of course

At its best, a twist ending isn’t just some random bullshit that no one will see coming because it doesn’t make any sense. In fact, it should tie everything together so well that, in hindsight, nothing else could make sense. Maybe it’s a happy ending where a tragedy was expected. Maybe it’s a more bittersweet ending that adds a layer of depth to the story. Maybe it’s just flat-out ballsy.

For Redditor Valor2S, “Fight Club was one of those movies where you just didn’t know what was going to happen next,” they told r/AskReddit. “There are still some parts of it I try and figure out. Tyler and the Narrator was beautifully done.”

They then asked, “What movie had the best unexpected ending?” and there was nothing expected about the answers their fellow Redditors provided.
