20 Mainstream Movies With Terrible Acting

The CGI dragon did the best acting in ‘Eragon’

Listen, we’re not saying that indie movies are bad. If anything, they’re often better than the soulless blockbusters built from the lowest common denominator in some conglomerate’s focus group. We’re just saying that, when nobody’s invested more than $5 and a week of missed wages from Jamba Juice, they have somewhat less of an incentive to really turn out their best work. A lot of them do anyway, and the end result is often breathtaking, but we certainly wouldn’t blame them.

That’s why it’s particularly weird when movies whose success or failure have the power to topple careers and century-old corporations feature actors who are clearly just phoning it in. Like, did they audition? Was the director on a break? Was everyone too afraid to ask a certified movie star what accent that was? Whatever the case, when user scornfvll asked r/AskReddit, “What’s the worst acting you’ve ever seen in a big-budget film made by a huge studio?” there was no shortage of Redditors who felt ripped off by their IMAX 3-D tickets to scenery chewing.
