12 Burgers of the Day That We’d Serve to Former ‘Bob’s Burgers’ Star Jay Johnston in Prison
Jimmy Pesto Sr. better get ready to make the Pesto’s Besto of the nexto 12 months — hopefully they have pizza day in prison.
Former TV comedy mainstay Jay Johnston’s protracted battle with the consequences of his own actions during January 6, 2021 came to an end on Monday as U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols sentenced the Mr. Show and Bob’s Burgers actor to 12 months in prison following Johnston’s guilty plea to the felony charge of interfering with police officers during a civil disorder. During the attacks on the Capitol that Johnston and his fellow insurrectionists launched in response to Donald Trump’s defeat in the 2020 presidential election, Johnston filmed himself joking around with other rioters as they pushed against the line of police officers protecting the Capitol Building, crushing one cop as the attackers stole riot gear, including a police shield that Johnston briefly acquired.
After investigators (and anyone with access to Twitter) caught Johnston gleefully engaging in the January 6th attack, the Bob’s Burgers showrunners removed Johnston from the show and briefly retired the character of Jimmy Pesto Sr. before recasting the role with voice acting ringer Eric Bauza taking over in Season 14.
