Here’s A Totally Necessary ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ Supercut of Mac Being Left-Handed

Mac’s most peculiar character trait has been hiding in plain sight for 16 seasons

Despite his longtime struggle to live the most traditional, conservative and normative lifestyle possible, Ronald “Mac” McDonald is hiding an atypical orientation — he’s left-handed.

Yes, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fans, it’s true, and there is ample evidence proving it. Apparently, series creator and star Rob McElhenney is, himself, a southpaw, meaning that Mac leans left in the longest running live-action sitcom in American history. And throughout the record-breaking run, Mac has made no attempt to hide his deviation, even if most It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fans weren’t paying close enough attention to spot it.

This past Tuesday marked International Lefthanders Day, and one particularly observant It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fan used the holiday as an opportunity to publicly out Mac for his orientation, providing video evidence from throughout the show’s 16 seasons to celebrate Mac’s big day – not to be confused with Mac Day. In honor of International Lefthanders Day, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia superfan @pqdres tweeted his compilation of Mac’s sinistral activity over the last 19 years:

“yes this is literally just a mac using his left hand compilation cos it blows my mind how few people realise hes a lefty,” @pqdres wrote in a follow-up tweet, though he added that Mac “might wanna try playing pool as a righty, however.”

The greater It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia fandom reacted with impressed astonishment to @pqdres bombshell report, with one viral quote tweet commenting, “fan edits are insane to me like what do you mean you found all the clips of mac from iasip being left handed how does one even track that.”

Thankfully, the general tone toward Macs left-handedness has been one of tolerance. For thousands of years, left-handedness was considered a cardinal sin by conservative Christians, and the alternative lifestyle has only found mainstream acceptance in somewhat recent years. However, along with certain other character traits that the Catholic Church has frowned upon, Mac has no reason to feel shame for being left-handed.

No need to self-flagellate over this one, especially since he’s just going to have to hold the whip with his left hand.
