22 of the Prettiest Movies of All Time

‘Howl’s Moving Castle’ is visually stunning

People watch movies for lots of different reasons. Sometimes, we want to laugh until we cry. Other times, we want to cry until we laugh. Some people want to watch Steven Seagal do things for some reason. Whatever the case, we usually want movies to reach back into some deep corner of our intellectual or emotional cores and give it a good tickle.

But dammit, every once in a while, we just want a movie to be pretty. We want to see pretty colors, hear pretty sounds and watch pretty people wear pretty clothes and say pretty words. It might not satisfy any cerebral need for a meaningful story, but after a long day in a loud, gray world, it can be nice to just look at something nice for a while. And when user dilapidatedbunghole asked r/AskReddit, “What is the most aesthetically pleasing movie you’ve ever seen?,” Reddit filled the thread with a bunch of ideas for your next stare-a-thon.
