21 Movies That Changed Songs Forever

‘Do you like Huey Lewis and the News?’

Most songs in most movies are little more than window dressing. As effective as they are in the moment, you’re probably going to forget the snippet of lyrics you swore to Google later so you can find out what song was playing while the action hero somehow leaped from rooftop to rooftop over entire city streets. Sometimes, though, the needle drop is so good (or, crucially, so bad) that you can never hear the song any other way ever again.

For Redditor Amason8488, it’s “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley and the Wailers. “I went and saw I Am Legend when it first came out in theaters with my dad, and I must’ve been about 10,” they told r/Movies. “I have not been able to look at that song the same ever since. It sucks because it’s supposed to be a very heartwarming song, but instead, everytime I hear it I get filled with dread and sadness.”

They then asked, “What movie ruined a song for you?” and Reddit created the perfect playlist for when you want to feel various kinds of unsettled.
