20 Movie Scenes That Were Totally Shoehorned In

Why was Tarzan riding a griffin in ‘Rebel Moon’?

Sometimes, you’ll be watching a movie and something pops up completely out of left field, then everyone returns to business as usual. When that happens, you can’t help but theorize as to why. Maybe they snagged an esteemed actor without thinking about whether they actually had anything for them to do. Maybe they had to shove a hamfisted moral of the story where it didn’t belong. Maybe they just found a really cool weapon in the prop closet.

Redditor smlieichi recently had the same reaction watching Hardcore Henry. “I remember a scene (in) which the protag was heading to the villain’s headquarters (whilst) he heard a scream (and) discovered that a police officer was trying to molest a girl so he reached his hand and crushed his dick,” they explained. “It doesn’t affect the plot in (any way) or even was (an) obstacle for the protag towards their goal, so it’s like the writer suddenly realizes he wants more WTF moments in the script so he just (finds) a random spot and squash it in.”

They then asked r/Movies for more “movies with a scene that strays off from the plot just to check some boxes,” and Reddit confirmed it to be a universal experience.
