Kaitlin Olson Is the Emmys’ Most Snubbed Female Comedian

The Emmys will continue to ignore ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ for no reason later this month

Two weeks from today marks the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards where, supposedly, the year’s most talented comedienne will earn TV comedy’s highest honor — not that Kaitlin Olson’s ever had one.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is the most culturally significant sitcom since the creation of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences to be so habitually shafted by that circle jerk of out-of-touch snobs. Despite being the longest-running live action sitcom in TV history and earning massive critical acclaim along with a similarly sized cult following, the statue slingers and trophy trolls have only ever nominated the show for three awards, with stunt coordinator Marc Scizak earning the honor of also-ran at the 2013, 2014 and 2015 ceremonies. The poor taste and disrespect demonstrated by the Academy is infamous in the Always Sunny fandom, and the show’s creators even satirized the Emmys’ comically inept criteria in one of the show’s most iconic episodes: “The Gang Tries Desperately to Win an Award.”

In a recent reddit thread, TV comedy fans recently discussed which female comic actors are the most unjustly snubbed by the poor taste of the Emmys, and the voting determined that, out of an impressive list of candidates, Always Sunny’s Olson deserves the award for most undeservedly unawarded woman comedian on television. Dee Reynolds would be happy just to be on TV.

Other deserving comic actresses whom fans listed as inexcusable omissions included Jane Krawkoski who, despite garnering four nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series during her time playing the perpetually frenzied Jenna Maroney on 30 Rock and another one as aging trophy wife Jacqueline Voorhees on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt never crossed the finish line in a crowded field that included the likes of Jane Lynch from Glee and Julie Bowen of Modern Family fame. Amy Poehler was also among the notable unrewarded for her work on Parks and Recreation, though she did snag her lone Emmy win for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for hosting Saturday Night Live in 2016.

However, Olson was the only name high on the list who hasn’t even garnered a nomination from the Academy of Assholes. Again, no actor from Always Sunny has ever been nominated for a performance on the show. But out of the entire cast, Olson’s taken so much more on-screen abuse, beratement and mortal harm than the rest of the gang that her contributions feel the most deserving of recognition — besides maybe the makeup artist who somehow makes Rickety Cricket even more revolting with every successive season.
