Hulk Hogan Teases Tag-Team With Dave Chappelle
WWE legend Hulk Hogan and stand-up superstar Dave Chappelle were recently seen drinking together holding red solo cups — presumably, they were at a party for all the celebrities who are the most comfortable dropping an N-bomb.
The Hulkster has always maintained an interesting online relationship with the world of mainstream comedy — like the time he tweeted lamentations over the late Jackass star Bam Margera, only to learn that Margera wasn’t actually dead and could read his R.I.P. tweet. Though Hogan’s own comedy career in films like the 1991 flop Suburban Commando weren’t quite as fruitful as his pay-per-view grudge matches with the far funnier Iron Sheik, Hogan didn’t break his funny bone over his three-decades-and-change of acquiring compounding wrestling injuries.
Don't Miss
As a comedy fan, Hogan was understandably excited to meet Chappelle at the unspecified event in Tampa, Florida this past weekend, snapping a shot with the comedy legend and posting a message to potential challengers:
Interestingly, the appreciation for Chappelle spans across the wrestling community. In 2021, WWE co-founder Vince McMahon ended up in tabloid headlines by making a rare public appearance at an event not related to the ass-kicking industry when he scored some VIP backstage passes to a Chappelle show in Connecticut. McMahon’s son-in-law, the retired wrestler and industry icon Triple H, said of the family outing, “We all find Dave Chappelle, much like the rest of the world, I think, as incredibly entertaining and funny, and we’re big fans.”
Though Chappelle has never formally announced his interest in joining Hogan (or any wrestler) in the ring for a WWE/comedy crossover, it’s easy to see the appeal of such an event — Chappelle is one of the funniest trash talkers on the planet, he’s in exceptional physical shape for a stand-up and there would be a non-zero chance that it could jump-start his Andy Kaufman arc.
