Joe Rogan Is Pro-Barbie?
Joe Rogan hasn’t always been what you’d call a progressive feminist. In recent months, he’s bashed a Miller Lite campaign honoring women brewers, laughed at a “put women back in the kitchen” speech and declared that most women want botox. So it was a little surprising to learn that Rogan is an unabashed Barbie fan who is “perplexed” about Ben Shapiro, Bill Maher, and all the other men freaking out about the billion-dollar smash.

On a recent episode of his podcast, Rogan and Post Malone broke down the Barbie phenomenon. “People are upset that it’s this, like, progressive metaphor for life, that they’re pushing progressive politics in this. And I’m like, it’s a f*cking doll movie!” Rogan ranted. “It’s a doll movie. It’s a fun movie about dolls who come to life and try to interact with the real world.”

So Rogan doesn’t think Barbie is anti-men? “I’m like, no, it’s making fun of dorks,” he says. “(Some men) think it’s a super woke movie… But it’s also a movie about how Barbies are the dolls that everyone cares about. And Ken is just a f*cking accessory, which is real. And then in the movie they go to the real world and the real world sucks and it’s run by men. And so this is what people are saying makes this an anti-man movie.”
So … not exactly an ally here, but it’s something. Rogan agrees that men run our world and why would anyone have a problem with that? Not sure that’s exactly what Greta Gerwig is getting at, but hey, at least Rogan isn’t destroying dolls like Ben Shapiro! And he actually enjoyed Barbie as well. “It’s a comedy!” he argues. “It’s a fun, silly movie.” He even praises the narrative for being “original” and “interesting.”
“Margot (Robbie) and Ryan (Gosling) are amazing,” agreed fanboy Post Malone.
Why are men even going to a Barbie movie if they’re so prepared to be offended, Rogan wonders. It’s like going to an AC/DC concert if you hate AC/DC. Rogan sums up his feelings about the Barbie backlash with this delicious bit of irony: “I don’t get it. I’m appalled at how easily outraged so many people are.”
