RFK Jr.'s Most Reliable Voting Bloc: Comedy Blondes
As a general rule, members of the same political party generally don’t challenge an incumbent presidential candidate. But that’s not stopping Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who announced his intentions to take on Joe Biden last month. Early polling numbers have Kennedy with 16 percent to 19 percent of Democratic voters’ support, although much of that early approval may be coming from comedy blondes.

The most prominent of those fair-haired funny ladies, of course, is his wife Cheryl Hines, Larry David’s fictional ex on Curb Your Enthusiasm. While Hines has taken to Twitter in the past to denounce Kennedy’s more outrageous nonsense such as comparing Dr. Anthony Fauci’s vaccination efforts to the Holocaust, she tells The New York Times that she’s all in on her husband’s candidacy. “I support Bobby and I want to be there for him,” she says. “And I want him to feel loved and supported by me.”
Don't Miss
Kennedy believes Hines’ Hollywood bona fides are key to his eventual election. “I think ultimately if I get elected, Cheryl will have played a huge role in that,” Kennedy told the Times. “She’s an enormous asset to me, and I don’t think we’ve really unveiled her in her true power yet.” It's unclear if Hines knows that she’s Kennedy’s secret weapon as she doesn’t always have time for this campaign nonsense. “I don’t feel the need to go to every political event,” she says, “because I do have my own career.”
No worries, Robert, because you have another comedy blonde in your corner — fellow anti-vaxxer Alicia Silverstone. No longer a Democrat and now an independent voter, Silverstone says RFK Jr. is her guy.
“@robertfkennedyjr gives me hope,” the Clueless star posted on Instagram. “This man gets me excited about the potential for truth and justice. He provides hope for young and old to trust our government once again. RFK Jr. is a person we can be inspired and be proud to call President.”
With the blinding star power of comedy blondes Hines and Silverstone in Kennedy’s corner, how can he lose? He’s reporting positive feedback from Hollywood, even from the cantankerous comic who introduced Kennedy and Hines, Larry David. “I feel a lot of support and love from most of (Hines’) friends,” says RFK Jr., “including Larry.”
In a text to The New York Times, David clarified his political position. “Yes love and support,” he says, “but I’m not ‘supporting’ him.”
