Wyoming Senator: 'I Want To Make Joe Biden A One-Half-Term President'
After four years, two impeachments, and several calls for former President Donald Trump to be booted from the White House during his tenure in the Oval Office, it seems the idea of a president finishing their term in relative harmony has become a notion of the past. Despite current POTUS Joe Biden's notable lack of impeachable offenses, Wyoming Senator John Barrasso is evidently committed to making the current Commander-in-Chief a “one-half-term president."
"Mitch McConnell's come under a lot of criticism for saying, at one point, he wanted to make sure that Barack Obama was a one-term president," the lawmaker said during an event hosted by centrist republican thinktank, Ripon Society, last week. “I want to make Joe Biden a one-half-term president. And I want to do that by making sure they no longer have House, Senate, White House."
Despite some confusion surrounding what, exactly, the lawmaker meant by this statement, it seems that instead of waiting for 46 to allegedly ask some shady favors of the Ukrainian government or arguably incite a deadly insurrection on our nation's capitol, the Senator is apparently looking to proverbially, rather than literally, remove President Biden from office, kneecapping his term by earning back Republican control during next year's midterm elections. “I’m looking forward to a very successful 2022,” Barrasso explained.
Don't Miss
Yet just like everything that's come out of the Republican party over the past few decades, it seems as if the lawmaker's sentiments can be tied back to the love child of Yurtle the Turtle and the Pale Man from Pan's Labyrinth – longtime Kentucky Senator and god-tier obstructionist, Mitch McConnell. As NBC News noted, the lawmaker stressed the significance of the midterm elections in attempting to revoke power from a sitting president halfway through former President Obama's first term in office. “The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president,” the full-time Admiral Ackbar Cosplayer said in 2010, adding that he didn't “want the president to fail” and instead, wanted "him to change," inadvertently quoting every teenage girl about their shitty high school boyfriends.
Despite his lack of success the first time around, with 44 winning reelection in 2012 against Mitt Romney, it seems the 79-year-old is singing the same tune a decade and change later. "We're confronted with severe challenges from a new administration and a narrow majority of Democrats in the House and a 50-50 Senate to turn America into a socialist country," McConnell said last month. “That's 100 percent of my focus.”
