BREAKING: Dolly Parton, Betty White, and Steve Irwin's Daughter, All Still Wholesome As Heck
Well, folks, I am pleased to inform you all that there is still a whole lot of good that has happened over the past week, that despite popular conceptions, there is so much more to life than impeachments, domestic terrorist attacks, and every terror du jour of the past 9 days.
First up, Dolly Parton may finally earn the recognition she deserves as America's sweetheart, potentially getting her own statue outside of the Capitol building in her home state of Tennessee. On Tuesday, Democratic Representative John Mark Windle presented a bill to honor the country legend, racial justice advocate, childhood literacy promoter, and vaccine champion via a commemorative statue for "all that she has contributed to this state," the Associated Press reported. Although the details of the statue's specifics would be decided by the state capitol commission, the monument would not be paid for through taxpayer money, being expensed through a fund created by the bill, and will also likely face towards the Ryman Auditorium, where Parton has performed.
Don't Miss
"At this point in history, is there a better example, not just in America but in the world, of a leader that is (a) kind, decent, passionate human being?" the lawmaker said earlier this week. "(She's) a passionate person who loves everyone, and everyone loves her." Between her consistent advocacy for those in need, apparent dedication to kindness, and her absolutely beautiful voice, what's not to love! Remember, folks, the expression "What Would Dolly Do" exists for a reason.
And Parton isn't alone -- beloved actress Betty White also seems to be faring just fine in these trying times. "I'm blessed with incredibly good health," White told Closer Weekly last spring. "That's something you appreciate a lot." Nearly a year after this golden morsel good news, White, the best thing from before sliced bread, is still doing great, and has big, birdy plans for her 99th birthday on Sunday.
"You probably didn't ask, but I'll tell you anyway," the actress told Entertainment Tonight earlier this week. "What am I doing for my birthday? Running a mile each morning has been curtailed by COVID, so I am working on getting The Pet Set re-released, and feeding the two ducks who come to visit me every day."
Those are two lucky ducks -- and one hell of a wholesome quarantine birthday celebration. I'd take that over Zoom bingo any day. Anyways, for those of you that aren't 99, or, well, born in the '60s, The Pet Set was White's TV show, which first launched 50 years ago in 1971, that featured celebrities, like Carol Burnett, Doris Day, and Mary Tyler Moore, their pets, and even exotic animals like zebras and tigers, Today reported. Now, I'll be honest, I didn't have Betty White turning out to be the heartwarming 70's version of Joe Exotic, on my 2021 bingo card, but hey, I'll take it. Tiger King/Golden Girls crossover episode, anyone?
However, White isn't the only animal lover gracing our computer screens with heartwarming content in these trying times. Earlier this week, Bindi Irwin, the conservationist daughter of the late Steve Irwin who is now expecting a child of her own, shared a sweet recreation of a 2000's family maternity snap, featuring her famous Crocodile Hunter father, and her mother, Terri.
"Recreating a very special moment. Third trimester love," the 22-year-old TV personality wrote alongside a photo of her and her beloved father kissing her mom's baby bump while she was pregnant with her brother, Robert Clarence Irwin, and a second image of her husband, Chandler Powell, kissing her belly as they await the arrival of their first child, a baby girl, later this year, according to People.
Although sadly, the Croc Files star isn't here to witness this joyous occasion, there is no doubt he'd be overjoyed about the new addition to his family.
"This is the best day ever! I am over the moon to announce that @BindiIrwin and @chandlerpowell are going to have a baby!" Terri wrote on Twitter last August after her daughter and son-in-law shared they were expecting. "Words cannot express the love that is filling my heart. While I wish that Steve was here to share this beautiful moment, I know that he would be so proud."
So, readers, remember, things may feel scary and uncertain right now, but there will always be kernels of good in this crazy world, as long as we have Dolly, Betty, and the pure wholesomeness of the Irwin family. Crikey!
